Join us on April 16 at 5:30 PM for an evening with Sandra Cisneros, including a reception, reading and book-signing co-hosted by Heritage University. Sandra Cisneros is a Mexican-American writer. She is best known for her first novel The House on Mango Street and her subsequent short story collection Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories. Cisneros has achieved recognition far beyond Chicano and Latino communities, to the extent that The House on Mango Street has been translated worldwide and is taught in American classrooms as a coming-of-age novel. She won a MacArthur fellowship ('Genius Award') in 1995 and was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Obama in 2016.
